The prompt introduction of a British dollar appears, therefore, to be the only effectual remedy for the situation; and, as that project involves no radical change in the Colonial currency, but is designed only to supplement, and supply an admitted deficiency of, the present legal tender, this Association trusts that H.M.Government will see fit to

authorise the permissive coinage, at the Bombay mint, of a British dollar in accordance with the unanimously expressed

desire of the official and mercantile community of Hong Kong.
